EWC Dataservice

The primary objective of the data service project is to generate quantitative information on multinational companies covered by the EWC Directive as well on the European works councils (EWCs) where they exist. The Multinationals Database, which lists all the companies affected by the EWC Directive, and the Full-Text Database, with the English texts of the EWC agreements are merged in 2004 on a single CD-ROM. For the updating and upgrading of this new EWC database on-line consultation with e-mail feed-back forms will be tested.

Description

In updating the EWC database there will be focussed first of all on companies affected by the directive headquartered in the new EU member states. Secondly the collection of texts of new EWC agreements and renegotiated ones will be completed. On the Same CD-Rom is integrated the InfoPoint's EWC Agreements database, the texts of the national transpositions of the EWC Directive and the texts of the sector and cross sector European Social Dialogue, as well as OCDE guidelines and ILO conventions. Finally, a monitoring exercise will look at the integration of representatives from new member states in existing EWCs, the number of meetings of EWCs and the involvement of EWCs in transnational restructuring.

Some data out of the ETUI EWC database is available on-line. In the course of 2005, its possibility to develop feed-back for the updating of the database is tried out. Further up-dating based on e-mail feed-back from EWC contact persons is considered.
