752.57
Category: A school day on the brand new European Programme PROGRESS (programme for employment and social solidarity) has been jointly organised on 22 October by ETUI-REHS and ETUC, with the participation of 34 trade unionists from 25 trade union organizations and federations, in order to present the new Programme and its challenges for trade unions at European, national and sectoral level.
Progress, in fact, due to its content and structure, is directly related to relevant areas of work for trade unions: employment, social inclusion and social protection, working conditions, anti-discrimination and gender equality.
After an introduction from Ronald Janssen of ETUC about the state of art of Lisbon strategy and ETUC reply, the responsible of the programme in DG Employment of European Commission, Ms Bussacchini, together with her colleagues responsible of 5 policy areas and of administrative procedures, have been accompanying the school day with very useful information and tips particularly appreciated by the participants.
Michel Mortelette from ETUC and Roberto Pettenello from CGIL have animated the debate, particularly focusing on how trade unions might use Progress in efficient and strategic way.
