Mariya Nikolova was born in Sofia in 1981. She graduated in Political and Social Sciences at the University of Antwerp and obtained a post-graduate diploma in European Policy at the Institute d’Etudes Européennes (IEP) in Brussels. During her studies she undertook a one-year Erasmus exchange at the Institute d’Etudes Politiques (IEP) of Strasbourg. In addition, she carried out internships at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Brussels, the Mission of Bulgaria to the European Union and at the unit “Access to social rights” of the Social Cohesion department at the Council of Europe. Prior to joining the ETUI-REHS, Mariya worked for almost two years as research assistant at the European Social Housing Observatory of CECODHAS in Brussels.
