Innovation and trade unions
Description
Innovation policy is at the forefront in the discussion on the future of Europe and is the "modern" way of formulating industrial policy. Seldom are trade unions are invited to discuss these issues and when they are it is often with innovation as a black box. However, workers' participation at the firm level in developing and implementing innovation is key to the success of the innovation. Hence this pilot project will set up an expert network on innovation both with regard to innovation as industrial policy and its implication for workers in Europe and the role of social innovation and how this relates to workers' participation. Several expert reports will be requested in order to investigate the link between trade unions and the policy formulation of innovation. This project will be built on already existing material and experience at the European Metalworkers Federation.
