No ordinary trade union career, but one which was sufficiently exemplary for Enzo Friso to be elected in 1992 to leadership of the ICFTU. In these pages we accompany the author and his struggle for justice, freedom and development through the still divided world inherited from the Cold War – including the fight for trade union rights in the Communist countries of Eastern Europe, in South Africa under apartheid, and in Latin America – and into the more recent era characterised by the problems of globalisation.
