The ETUC in the mirror of industrial relations research

Description
This is naturally no more than a very limited selection from the numerous articles published since the seventies, but it does indicate the considerably increased interest shown in the ETUC and in European trade union policy as from the beginning of the nineties. The academic treatment of the ETUC appears here, furthermore, as the reflection of a political process which began in the seventies and is far from having reached its end. A development which was several decades in the making at national level is now being repeated at European level. The trade unions are becoming europeanised, extending their specifically national ways of seeing to incorporate a European dimension.
The editors have been involved in this process each in their own way. Emilio Gabaglio, as General Secretary of the ETUC, has played a central role. Reiner Hoffmann is Director of the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) which serves as the European interface between trade unions and the academic world.
