Survey on board-level representation in Europe

Description

The project on board-level representation is designed to examine the role, organisation and activities of employee representatives who serve on company boards throughout Europe. An initial position paper has been prepared for the 'Paths to Progress' project (see Waddington and Kluge 2006). The intention is to move forward by conducting original research and thus positioning the ETUI–REHS as the leading research institute in the field. It is clear that issues of corporate governance will occupy a high profile political position during the medium-term. This project is thus essential to ensure that the ETUC/ETUI is in a position to influence the terms of the debate that will accompany this high profile.
The long-term intention of this project is to seek funding from the Hans Böckler Foundation (HBS) to survey employee representatives who serve on company boards throughout Europe. To this end, it is now necessary to set up an advisory board that will be key to securing funds from the HBS, hence we wish to convene two meetings of people who will form the advisory board.
