Bio/Description

Since he got trained as social scientist (at University of Göttingen) he hikes between the worlds of academic research and trade unions. In the beginning evaluating why institutional reform of universities did not effect what they intend, but achieved what nobody expected before (at the University of Kassel 1979-1988) he changed his professional role by getting a project manager of Hans Böckler Foundation, Düsseldorf, in the field of industrial relations and co-determination (1988-2002). Now, from end of 2002 on, he came back to conduct original research himself again by setting up the project SEEUROPE in the ETUI and evaluating the field of workers participation at European level and the implementation of the legislation on the European Company (SE) ? www.seeurope-network.org. Enjoys to see awaking big cities in the early morning.

  • Born 1955 in Kassel, Germany, Diploma at University of Göttingen, Ph.D. Ph.D. 1994 at University of Kassel.
  • 1979 -1988 junior researcher at the Center for research on Higher Education and Work,University of Kassel.
  • 1988 - 1996 research manager in the research promotion department of Hans Böckler Foundation, Düsseldorf.
  • 1996 and 1998 research manager of the ?Commission on Co-determination and new corporate cultures? of Hans Böckler Foundation and Bertelsmann Foundation at the Max-Planck-Institute for the Studies of Societies inCologne.
  • 1999 - 2002 Head of ?Forum Co-determination and enterprises?, a joint initiative of Bertelsmann Foundation and Hans Böckler Foundation to identify and promote best practices of cooperative labour relations
  • 2002 - research fellow of ETUI.
