Training

The Education department organises transnational training courses on project management and on specific European grants of relevance to trade unions (e.g. the Budget Lines on Social Dialogue, the European Social Fund and EU grants for health and safety). The courses are designed to improve the quality of transnational projects for trade union officers and are aimed at trade union officers and project officers from ETUC-affiliated trade unions.

Please see the Education courses category on strategic project management for further information about dates, aims, target groups, course languages, etc.

In particular, the Education Department organises 2 transnational courses each year designed to improve the quality of transnational projects for trade union officers.

The aims of those courses are:

  • To explain developing and planning a transnational project, including: defining objectives, scheduling, budgeting, and monitoring
  • To improve understanding of the EU funding context, and the possibilities of support for trade union activities especially in trade union education
  • To give opportunities to meet and share experiences of project work in a multicultural environment

Target group:

Participants should be trade union officers from education, training and international departments with some experience of planning, leading, coordinating or managing projects at national and transnational level.

The Education department can assist and provide advice, though material and expertise, to national confederations and industry federations on designing courses for participants at national and sectoral level.

For further details on levels and modules, please consult the paper “Training Trade Union Project Officers”, available from our Resource section.

In addition to the general project management courses, we also organise training courses on specific EU funding programmes related to education, employment and research, such as the budget lines for social dialogue, the Life-long learning Programme, the European Social Fund 2007-2013, the Programme PROGRESS, and the 7th Framework Programme on research and development

Here is a list of the most recent courses we have organised, including their programmes, the materials used and the list of participants, to give you an idea of how these courses are designed and delivered:
