Trade unions in Europe are in process of transition as they adjust to changing economic and social circumstances. The accelerated pace of economic internationalisation, the adoption of neo-liberal policies, and the wide-ranging reform of production regimes undermined the forms of union organisation that dominated the period until the mid-1970s.
