Trade Union Legal Experts Network for SEE

Description

The main aim of the project in 2007-2008 is to build on the achievements of previous years and further develop the professional capacities of the SEE labour law network of experts while strengthening the sustainability of the outcomes by gradual transfer of activities towards full regional ownership, supported by ETUI-REHS. At the same time the thematic areas are to be expanded and allow closer interdependence with the reforms unfolding in key sectors in the region - energy, transport, health care, etc. The aims are to be pursued by intensifying the exchange of information and expertise transfer to increase the potential for policy-making of the organisations, adequate to the challenges of reforms on the ground and the necessity for EU orientation of outcomes.

The full use of the interactive website of the project, starting operation in 2007, as well as the setting up of a Centre for regional coordination and (EU) integration, will facilitate the flow of information and expertise across the region and with ETUI-REHS and also help in identifying common areas of interest with the employer coordination centre for common projects or activities. The main activities in 2007 will involve: a regional workshop on health reforms to bring together the work of national confederations and the respective health sector federations; second, a regional workshop with European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU), Public Services International (PSI) and SEE energy unions to develop an efficient approach in the use of the MoU on Social Issues of the Energy Community Treaty and a common regional position of the energy unions to the implementation of the ECT; third, securing the participation of members of the SEE legal experts network in the annual conference of NETLEX; fourth, continuing the consulting the organisations on problems they encounter in their work, and last the setting up of a Centre for Regional Coordination and (EU) Integration to gradually take over the overall coordinating role of ETUI-REHS for designing and implementing the annual plan of activities in the project.
