Description

The key objectives of this joint ETUI-REHS/ETUCE course held in Bulgaria were: to assess progress towards the establishment of a European sectoral social dialogue in education and of a Social Dialogue Committee covering the sector at EU level; to strengthen the national strand of the process through presentations and discussions concerning the national working groups; and to discuss how this EU process could strengthen social dialogue at national level, and in particular the national sectoral collective bargaining systems. The participants also adopted a solidarity resolution supporting the current problems facing the Bulgarian teachers' unions in wage negotiations with their government - this was preceded by an interesting comparison of teachers' wages in various European countries.
