Report 76. Legal analysis of the implementation of the fixed-term work directive

Description
Like the previous ETUI reports on the implementation of the Parental leave and Part-time work agreements/Directives, this report is based on the replies to a questionnaire circulated among ETUC affiliates in general and the ETUC Trade Union Legal Experts Network NETLEX in particular. To ensure quality of analysis, this primary - in most cases detailed - information, has been supplemented, where necessary, by information from other research and statistical sources.
This implementation report aims to present and analyse the national implementation provisions or negotiating tools on fixed-term work. The accession countries have been included as far as possible, as the framework agreement is part of the acquis communautaire to be taken over in the accession process. Where available, information about the regulation of fixed-term work in the Balkan region was also added.
This implementation report, as a follow-up to the ETUI survey on fixed-term work of 1998, will certainly provide a relevant source of detailed information on the implementation stage of the directive on fixed-term work and may well prove useful in the context of revision of the directive scheduled for 2004.
