Description
Two thirds of all employees in the European Union work in undertakings that have less than 250 employees. This is where most new jobs are created. The EU member states want therefore to improve conditions for small and medium undertakings. The EU employment policy guidelines focus on concrete measures to develop entrepreneurship.
Using five countries as examples, (Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark), the contributors to Entrepreneurship in the European employment strategy show which measures were taken and how they relate to the European policy guidelines, whether they were successful and, above all, to what extent the social partners, and in this case the trade unions in particular, were involved in the policy-making process.
This book is the result of cooperation between the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), the Swedish National Institute for Working Life (NIWL) and the three Swedish trade union confederations LO, TCO and SACO, in the framework of the Saltsa programme.
