Description
Jobs First is the first publication to be published jointly by the ETUC and TUAC, the Paris-based Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD. Produced with the support of the ETUI, this booklet demonstrates that, popular belief and political rhetoric notwithstanding, the trade unions are not opposed to modernisation of the labour markets, provided that the steps taken in this direction serve to preserve and create jobs, thereby enabling the unemployed to return to work.
Edited by David Foden (ETUI) and Roy Jones (TUAC), Jobs First contains reports from thirteen countries, from Belgium to the USA, covering a wide range of developments including part-time work, career breaks, continuing training, special measures for the unemployed or programmes to promote the access of young unemployed people to the labour market.
