New book discusses the issue with reference to six countries

Youth unemployment is one of the most pressing problems in Europe. Based on the employment policy guidelines laid down by the European Commission, the EU Member States have set up a number of programmes aimed at easing the transition from school to professional life.

Tackling Youth Unemployment in Europe is the fruit of a joint project between ETUI and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES, Brussels). Referring to six countries (the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany and Belgium), it shows exactly what kind of efforts have been made to fight youth unemployment and how effective these measures actually were in practice.
