European Employment Policy

This ongoing project, which provides the framework for the ETUI-REHS's work on employment, will continue to monitor the development of the European Employment Strategy (EES), and follow selected developments in labour markets and labour market policy throughout Europe.

Description

Therefore this project is an 'umbrella' under which the knowledge produced in many of the projects at the ETUI-REHS will be used to consolidate the knowledge that the institute already has and will develop in the area of employment. on the ESM. An attempt will be made to pool results from many of the other research projects in the Programme Area, evaluating them in the light of their contribution to the goal, a key trade union concern, of improving the employment situation in Europe in both quantitative and qualitative terms. The projects from which the results will be used include the 'Social dumping', 'China', 'GATS', 'Demographic challenges and gender', 'flexicurity'; other projects at the ETUI-REHS will be included as well. Work from a stand-alone project (Amparo Serrano) may also feed into this umbrella project. The possibility of heading a network of European researchers to monitor a certain aspect of labour market policy (such as 'make work pay policies', 'labour mobility' is currently being considered and will depend on available human resources. A workshop is planned for Spring 2007 with a publication to follow.
