Facing relocation in practice - branch- and company-level trade union strategies

Description

As a second stage of the 'relocation' project (the first stage going to end by June 2007) we focus on branch- and company- level practices. After having clarified the conceptual framework and the major characteristics, we turn our attention to practical experiences and trade union strategies.
This project will start in September 2007 and end by December 2008 with a publication and a closing workshop.
Company- and branch- level cases studies will be compiled by making use of the European Metalworkers Federation (EMF) and European Mine, Chemical and Energy workers' Federation (EMCEF) company co-ordinators' network.
Five expert studies on individual cases will be prepared by local experts, analysing the relocation process, the role of trade union, works council and EWC representatives in the country of origin and in the country of destination. Beyond this, important branch and company cases will also be gathered on the basis of the literature.
The final publication based on theoretical findings and empirical results will conclude on possible trade union strategies to cope with relocation (December 2008).
