Trade Union Recruitment: An Assessment of Techniques, Organisation and Outcomes
Throughout most member states of the European Union trade union membership is declining, an increasing proportion of the labour force has never been a trade union member and substantial segments of the labour force are currently unorganised. In consequence, trade unions in Europe are now less representative of the European labour force than at any other time since about 1960.
The Trade Union Merger Process
Trade unions in Europe are adjusting to changes in political circumstances, labour market conditions and to new forms of regulation. This project examines these issues by means of research on trade union mergers in ten countries. The project comprises two distinct, yet complementary, elements.

Trade Unions in Europe - facing challenges and searching for solutions
Trade unions in Europe are in process of transition as they adjust to changing economic and social circumstances. The accelerated pace of economic internationalisation, the adoption of neo-liberal policies, and the wide-ranging reform of production regimes undermined the forms of union organisation that dominated the period until the mid-1970s. This book examines the range of trajectories pursued by trade unionists in sixteen countries in response to these challenges.
