The ETUI collective bargaining report has now become a yearly publication of the Institute. The 2005 issue will again give an overview of the state of the art of collective bargaining.

Description
In a broad opening chapter a comparative overview of recent developments concerning collective bargaining in Europe will be provided. This includes an overview of socio-economic indicators, wages, wage formation, coverage of collective bargaining and the content of collective bargaining. Subsequently, country chapters for all European countries will provide a discussion of recent developments concerning collective bargaining on one topical issue. For the coming edition the issue that was agreed upon is collective bargaining on working time, i.e. the duration of the working week, working time schedules, overtime, flexible contracts, etc.. Working time is at the moment at the centre of attention in most countries and a clear priority issue for trade unions. It is a polemical issue with unions often striving for working time reduction and employers for working time extension and further flexibilisation of working time arrangements and decentralisation of collective bargaining on working time. Working time is also at the centre of the debate on concession bargaining and delocalisation, as well as debates on combining work and household responsibilities, leisure time, etc. It was agreed that the country chapters in the book will deal with these issues, analysing developments in collective bargaining on working time issues in the past two or three years.
