3/1998: Local employment initiatives in Europe
Description
The latest issue of the European Trade Union Institute's quarterly journal TRANSFER focuses on local employment initiatives in
Europe. Referring to the recommendations issued by the European Commission in 1993 in its White Paper « Growth, competitiveness, employment », the contributors examine the policies and experiments conducted to date in a range of European countries, seeking to identify the sectors in which such initiatives have proved genuinely capable of promoting job creation, considering the interplay of public and private sector funding and initiative in such ventures, assessing their employment potential for women and the extent to which they lend themselves to inclusion in new working time policy approaches.
